Volunteers Got Talent - Highlights

Providing 100's of voluntary opportunities for 100's of people

What is volunteering?

Volunteering is any activity or service that involves spending time, unpaid, doing something that aims to benefit someone, the local community or the environment.

Who are we and how can we help you?

We are an independent charity working to promote volunteering in Tameside. Our aim is to build a strong, vibrant base for volunteering in Tameside through developing volunteering opportunities, recruiting and placing volunteers and by supporting organisations that need volunteers to do their work.

Volunteers

As a volunteer, we can help match you with a voluntary role that works for you from the hundreds of opportunities in Tameside. Our advice and placement service can help you narrow down the sort of voluntary work you'd like to do and assist you in applying for an opportunity. If you have a disability, or other difficulty that would make it more difficult for you to volunteer, our "building bridges" project can also offer in-depth support to get you started in volunteering and place you in a role that works for your particular circumstances.

Organisations

We can offer a variety of support for voluntary and community organisations in Tameside that work with volunteers. From practical services such as room hire for meetings and colour photocopying to advice and free training.

Miles of Smiles - Volunteer Car Scheme

Many people find it difficult to get to hospitals, dentist's surgeries, chiropodists, health centres, or even their GP's surgeries on time as they cannot use public transport easily, yet do not qualify for the ambulance service. In order to meet this very real need, Volunteer Centre Tameside has been asked by the Primary Care Trust to develop a Volunteer Car Scheme to ensure that appointments are met and patients receive the medical attention they desperately need.
