Volunteering is not just about giving. People volunteer for many different reasons:- for their own enjoyment, to make new friends, gain new skills or refresh old ones, to obtain work experience, to conquer new challenges, to help others, to get involved in their community or to just make a difference.
Does your organisation need volunteers? We can help! We can offer assistance with recruitment and basic selection of volunteers. We can publicise your voluntary opportunity. We also offer free training to volunteer coordinators, room hire for voluntary and community groups and help with publicity and printing.
Many people find it difficult to get to hospitals, dentist's surgeries, chiropodists, health centres, or even their GP's surgeries on time as they cannot use public transport easily, and yet do not qualify for the ambulance service. In order to meet this very real need, Volunteer Centre Tameside has been asked by the Primary Care Trust to develop a Volunteer Car Scheme to ensure that appointments are met and patients receive the medical attention they desperately need.
Time Banking in Tameside is an exciting new project available to everyone. You can get someone to wash your car, collect a prescription or even give you sports lessons for FREE! All we ask is that you give a small amount of time when you can to someone else who needs it.
Brighter Futures is a project designed to help you into work by using volunteering to build skills and experience. You will receive support throughout your time with the project - from initial meetings to being matched with a volunteering opportunity that can develop "skills for work", to help in producing a high-quality CV and portfolio of work to be shown to potential employers
Our core work is volunteers, and as a potential volunteer, we can help match you with a voluntary role that works for you from the hundreds of opportunities in Tameside.
