Train to Gain is primarily aimed at employed individuals but it’s recognised that there is a community of unpaid volunteers who perform similar tasks to those of an employee and where these volunteers are identified within a workplace they should be afforded the same access to vocational learning through Train to Gain as an employee. The help we can offer for organisations in the voluntary sector

I need volunteers!

Does your organisation need volunteers? We can help! We can offer assistance with recruitment and basic selection of volunteers. We can publicise your voluntary opportunity online through The National Volunteering Database and locally in The Volunteer Centre itself, where people calling in to look for voluntary work will be able to view your opportunity. We can also offer advice and information on good practice when working with, and selecting volunteers. For more information, contact Sue Vickers.

My staff and I need training, but we can't afford it!

We run a variety of training courses, all of which are available free to voluntary and community sector organisations. We also have an on-site training coordinator who you can discuss training needs with. Find out more about training courses or email our training coordinator, David Sharples.

I'm isolated in my role, it'd be really helpful to have others to network with

Our Volunteer Coordinators Network might be just what you need. Staff from the volunteer centre and local volunteer coordinators meet once a quarter for networking, lunch and a brief training session. It's free for volunteer coordinators in Tameside to attend, and we know you're busy so we try to keep it brief. Find out more, or email Riona to find out how you can attend the next meeting.

My volunteers work really hard, but I don't have time to recognise their contribution properly

Publicity

We can help with your organisations publicity needs in a number of ways, including, logo design, letterheads, compliment slips and other stationary, posters, leaflets and newsletters, professional reports (such as annual reports or reports to funders) and website design.

For local voluntary and community organisations we can also offer an IT support service and have a selection of equipment available for loan (including laptop and digital projector, digital camera, colour copier, laminator, thermal and ring binding machines).

For more information, email Michael.

A new meeting/training room is available, located at the front of the building and has been redecorated and refurbished with new carpets and furniture. The room is available for hire at the competitive rate of £15 per morning, afternoon or evening session. This is the cost to voluntary and community groups, if you are a statutory organisation the cost is £30 per session. Features of the venue include:
